Roland-Garros 2025: Clay Kings Return to Battle

The 2025 edition of Roland-Garros will take place from May 26 to June 8, promising two weeks of high-stakes action on the iconic red clay of Paris.

Carlos Alcaraz, the reigning champion, returns to defend his title after his thrilling five-set victory over Alexander Zverev in 2024. The young Spaniard is again the favorite, combining explosive power with clay-court finesse.

All eyes are on Jannik Sinner, who returns to Grand Slam action as the World No. 1 following a three-month suspension. Sinner tested positive for Clostebol, a banned substance, due to inadvertent contamination from a spray used by his physiotherapist. While the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) acknowledged the lack of intent, it imposed a three-month ban from February 9 to May 4, 2025. This will be Sinner’s first major tournament since serving his suspension.

Meanwhile, a new generation of contenders is emerging. Jack Draper, who recently reached the final in Madrid, has climbed to World No. 5. Casper Ruud enters the Top 10 after his victory in Madrid. Holger Rune and Lorenzo Musetti are also showing promise on clay, making this year’s ATP competition at Roland-Garros particularly unpredictable.
